Hey, Good Lookin' by Hank Williams

 This week I chose to write about the song Hey, Good Lookin' performed by Hank Williams. This song has all the elements of an old country song. Like many country songs this is a love song. The song is basically a man trying to ask out a girl. Overall I really like the song however I do not like Hank Williams voice in this song. He tries to extend many notes and it really just comes off as annoying. The song has a very constant beat you can hear in the background and you can hear many different instruments. This includes the violin, guitar, and piano. The song's beat is one that makes you want to tap your foot to the beat of the song. When you hear this song you automatically feel like you have gone back in time to an old bar.  The lyrics of the song also reflect the time that this song was made. At one point he talks about a date book that he is going to throw over the fence. Then he says he is going to buy a new one and write this girls name on every page. The song seems like it was more supposed to be background music at a bar or even to be danced to because the lyrics are really not that complex.

    I love your critique of this song! I also thought the song was really catchy and I liked listening to it. I think it is a great example of some of the first country songs. It was a really interesting song to listen to because of all of the elements in it, and I thought it was a really catchy and fun song. Great job!!!

    I love this song! This is the roots of modern country music and really shows what it is supposed to be. The twanginess and the guitar in the background encompass the very heart of country music. The voice of Ole Hank is really soothing but got kind of a high pitch grit to it.

Like many Christians the Cater Family in this song refers to religion as a ship. Throughout the song they sing of sailing in this ship and going beyond the sky. Gone Country by Alan Jackson

 This week I chose to write about the song "Gone Country" by Alan Jackson. Alan Jackson is very comparable to George Strait. These two country artists were the faces of country music in the 80's and 90's and their songs are still played today. Both of these artists were very traditional in their country style. The song "Gone Country" was actually written by Bob McDill. It was released way back in 1984. This song basically tells the stories of multiple people who are unsatisfied with their current lifestyles. These people then make the choice to change their lifestyles for a simpler country lifestyle. Thriller by Micheal Jackson

 This week I chose to write on Thriller by Michael Jackson.  Michael Jackson is such a well known artist. He was born in nineteen fifty eight and died tragically back in two thousand nine. He has a very iconic high pitched voice and was often known as the king of pop.  This is such a fun and classic song. It came out way back in nineteen eighty two. Even though it is quite old it is still quite popular. Many people have created covers of this song and it is often played around Halloween. The song is a great Halloween song and has a creepy vibe at the beginning. This song is very upbeat and easy to listen to. The whole song tells a horror story of being followed by zombies and other nightly creatures. It portrays this story in such a fun way.
