Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles
This week I chose to listen to Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles. I love the fast paced beat of this song. I also really like how they utilize orchestra instruments in this song. This song is interesting because the lyrics are actually quite depressing however the fast paced beat and sound of the string instruments create a sense of urgency that does not allow you to feel sad or depressed. The whole song is about lonely people. In particular Eleanor Rigby and Father Mckenzie. It first describes Eleanor Rigby as living in a dream and waiting by the window. It then describes Father Mckenzie and how he writes sermons that no will hear and that no one comes to listen to him. It also states how he fixes his socks even though no one will see them. The song then asks the question "What does he care". Why does Father Rigby do all these things if no one cares or listens to him. The last part of the song says that Eleanor Rigby dies and no one came to her funeral but Father Mckenzie who also buried her. This song has a really deep meaning it shares two tragic stories and ask the question where do the lonely people belong.
I also did this song this week and I also like this song. It was interesting how depressing the lyrics were, but the music was upbeat. I also like how in-depth you went into this song and everything you were able to pull out of it. Good song chose for this week.
ReplyDeleteIve never really got into The Beatles growing up, but after listening to the song I can personally say that I like this piece quite well. I like how you perceived the lyrics to where other people can understand especially sense I've never personally really 'heard' the song like that. I really like this post and hope to hear more soon!
ReplyDeleteI also chose the same song. I had a little trouble breaking down the true meaning behind the song because the lyrics themselves were not clear enough. I agree with you when you said that this song is a depressing mood song because talking about loneliness with a mix of death makes it sounds sad. had some trouble figuring what the true meaning behind Father McKenzie.
ReplyDeleteI can’t say that I chose the same song like those above me, but I really like the meaning of the song. Sometimes its hard to keep going. Life can sometimes land one really good suckerpunch and some people never recover. I guess for the people who get knocked down like that, the only thing that you can do is keep on walking and keep on trying to do what they know is right
